The Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk 2 replaced the earlier SMLE in the 1950’s and served with the Irish Defence Forces until its final retirement in all branches in 1980.
The Lee Enfield No. 4 is well remembered by members of the Reserve Defence Forces who were its’ final users.
